BOOK REVIEW
In the first book of the Wings
of Fire series, The Dragonet Prophecy by
Tui T. Sutherland, you will be completely captivated and if you’re anything like
me, you won’t be able to put it down! The novel is full of adventure, curiosity
and battles. Five friends (the dragonets) are fighting their way back to their
natural habitats in the hope to find their family, however, they keep getting captured
by the many Queens of the dragons. There are a few different species of dragon.
There are: Ice Wings, Sea Wings, Sky Wings, Mud Wings, Sand Wings, Rain Wings
and the mysterious Night Wings. When they get captured by one of the Queens, they
are forced to fight to their death in an arena. With their survival at threat,
will they overcome this terrible fate to escape this nightmare and eventually
be free? You’ll have to read the book(s) yourself and find out. I give it a
perfect 5 out of 5 stars. Do yourself a favour and pick up the novel over the
holidays. Trust me, you will be captivated.

Here they are: Bailey, Cameron, Pavitra, Ryan, Nikola, Sebastian,Tamika, Jasmine
SCIENCE SUPERSTARS
The whole-school Science Superstars Challenge proved to be a real success. Congratulations to all of the students who put in a great deal of effort into their projects. We had a lot of interesting investigations in Room 17. Well done to Pavitra and Gabriella for being awarded the Room 17 Champions. Another round of the Superstar Science Challenge will be held in Term 4. Start thinking about what you will present.
WA WEEK
To celebrate WA Day, Room 17 chose to research and showcase the Ningaloo Reef. Everyone contributed to the door and learned a great deal about Ningaloo in the process. The doors around the school were stunning and very informative. We enjoyed an afternoon stroll on Friday to learn more about the many towns, places, attractions, indigenous beliefs, plants and animals that make up Western Australia.
